Why Baby Alpaca & Silk

Model wearing a brown-color alpaca shawl made of 70% baby alpaca and 30% silk; natural color, unique pieces

Baby alpaca and silk create the perfect balance for year-round wear

Despite its name, baby alpaca does not come from baby alpacas. It refers to some of the finest and softest fibers naturally produced by adult alpacas. Its exceptionally fine fibers feel incredibly soft against the skin while providing natural warmth without unnecessary weight.

We blend it with silk to add a subtle smoothness, beautiful drape and a delicate touch to the fabric.

  • Designed for year-round wear
  • Exceptionally soft and smooth
  • Lightweight yet naturally warm
  • Beautiful drape and natural sheen

Perfect for year-round wear

Our alpaca shawl combines 70% baby alpaca with 30% silk for a lightweight layer that adapts to changing temperatures.

When temperatures rise, wear your alpaca shawl more loosely around the shoulders. The breathable blend allows air to circulate, keeping you comfortable on milder days.

Designed for every season, this alpaca shawl adds warmth when you need it and an elegant, fluid drape when you don’t.

Juan from Tukuy Alpaca in a market, the founder of the brand

A Small Piece of Peru

I’m Juan, the founder of Tukuy.

I was born in Peru, and after moving to Europe, I wanted to bring a small piece of my country to the world. That’s how Tukuy was born.

In Quechua, the language of the Incas, Tukuy means transform, and my vision was to transform the way people dress through more conscious choices and a deeper connection to where their clothing comes from.

Together with Peruvian producers, we create small-batch pieces using 100% baby alpaca wool. While many alpaca products are blended with synthetic, we chose to showcase alpaca wool in its purest form.

Tukuy is more than a brand. It’s a connection to Peru, its people and its craftsmanship.

Thank you for being part of the journey.

Really impressed with how well this holds up, still as soft as when I bought it months ago. Great for chilly summer nights.
