Not all alpaca fibers are the same. We work exclusively with baby alpaca, the finest, softest grade of the fiber, and one of the most prized natural fibers in the world. The result is an alpaca scarf that feels noticeably finer than many cashmere qualities, yet is more durable and insulates better than sheep’s wool, without the bulk.

Alpaca contains no lanolin, the natural grease found in sheep’s wool. That makes every alpaca wool scarf in our collection hypoallergenic and comfortable worn directly against the neck — no itch, even on sensitive skin. If you’ve ever avoided wool because it irritates, baby alpaca is your answer.

Many of our scarves are reversible, combining two natural alpaca colors in a single piece. Wear one side for a lighter tone, flip it for a darker shade. It doubles your styling options with one alpaca scarf, and the two-tone construction adds a subtle design detail that sets them apart from plain wool scarves.

Most of our scarves are left completely undyed, showing the alpaca fiber in its natural color. Alpaca wool comes in 22 natural shades, from white and cream to camel, gray, and brown — more natural color variation than any other wool. No dyes, no chemicals, just the fiber as it grows. Every scarf is made in Peru by our local producers, working with them directly and without middlemen for a more sustainable impact in the Andes.

Alpaca scarf vs. alpaca shawl: which one to choose?

Our scarves measure 180 × 30 cm (71 × 12 in), designed to wrap around the neck, tuck into a coat or drape loosely over a jacket. An alpaca shawl is significantly wider — 200 × 70 cm (78 × 27 in) — and made to drape over the shoulders or wrap the body. Does an alpaca scarf itch? +

No. Baby alpaca is naturally lanolin-free and exceptionally smooth, so our alpaca wool scarves are hypoallergenic and comfortable even on sensitive skin — no itch at all.

Is an alpaca scarf warmer than a wool scarf? +

Yes. Baby alpaca insulates better than sheep’s wool while staying lighter. It’s also as soft as fine cashmere, but more durable and easier to care for.

What does “baby alpaca” mean? +

Despite its name, baby alpaca doesn’t come from baby animals. It refers to the finest, softest fibers produced by adult alpacas — the highest quality grade of alpaca wool.

What does “reversible” mean? +

Some of our scarves have a different natural alpaca color on each side, so you can flip them and wear two looks with a single scarf.
